Teachers are the key to learning and clarity-Teachers must know what intended learning is in a lesson or series of lesson.
Learning intentions (leanring outcomes)-WALTS
- What do I want the students to learn.
- How do I articulate that?
- what would be a good way of learning it?
- What do I think a range of excellent finished products would look like
- They need to be SPECIFIC
Co-construct learning intention with the students.
Learning intention-User friendly language/child speak.
SUCCESS CRITERIA
- The learning intention is broken down into mini-goals or ingredients.
Benefits of co-constructing success criteria:
- Demonstrates the principal of AKO
- Students become more independent-They have more ownership.
- Students can decide Criteria which help is needed.
- improved achievement when students have seen exemplars and can follow or choose from the success criteria the have generated.
- High achievers can help lower achievers more effectively.

We looked at the different categories and listed examples.
We looked at the different categories and listed examples.
- Creating a supportive learning environment
- Encouraging reflective thought and action
- Enhancing the relevance of new learning
- Facilitating shared learning
- Providing sufficient opportunities to learn
- Teaching as inquiry
It was really good to be able to unpack these categories in depth and what it looks like in a classroom context. It was also good too be able to reflect on Effective Pedagogy and look at how I can implement this more into my classroom and my teaching and learning.
